Moikka International School

It is really a good experience for children to go to Japan preschool for two weeks, kids play with other kids from other country and enjoy the nature environment.

We are impressed with the environment of Moikka International School, you can feel the Japanese school culture once you stepped in. Our kids make friends with local Japanese kids.

From the day she arrived, our daughter appeared genuinely excited to come to school. The school was small and cozy, full of little details to make the children feel like home and our daughter loved everything about it. During the initial tour, she stoped to interact with everything and was happy to stay and play with everyone when we left. She loved the delicious meals, which were cooked by someone else in the community that we had already met and made a connection with, and she loved having someone she had already known around on day one. The teachers were busy and I am sure it is not easy to manage a transient child in their classrooms but they always took time to share a bit about how her day went each day, and included her in all activities the same way as the other children. They encouraged outside and active play which our daughter absolutely loved, especially coming from a daycare back home in the city where there is no outdoor space. She learned several words in Japanese from school that we did not teach her which surprised us, and still uses them daily. She made some friends who loved to help her get ready to go home each day, and everyone knew her name and called her name when we arrived each morning. Everyone made us feel welcome the entire time, and we were so happy to see she was having a good time while we got some time to explore ourselves.

This was a wonderful program for our family, creating a once-in-a-lifetime trip we'll never forget. Our son joined the toddler class at Moikka International School in Nishio for two weeks. It was a great experience to be able to walk to the school every day from our accommodation and to get to know the town. Everyone made us feel very welcome. Our son (just two years old) was a little shy at first - this was actually his first preschool experience anywhere, not just in Japan - but by the end of the first week, we were able to drop him off without tears. He had a favorite teacher and we could see him smiling in the photos they sent in his daily updates. Truly, I think he learned so much from these two weeks! I wish we could have stayed longer. . . maybe next time!

Even though we stayed 3 weeks, it still went by too quickly. Moikka is such an amazing school, we wish our daughter could attend it full-time. Loved that her class was a smaller, mixed age group that used both Japanese and English. It was a beautiful exchange between the Japanese kids and our daughter, who started speaking Japanese by her last day!
Keys House was such a beautiful accommodation, and the staff incredibly kind and generous. Our host went above and beyond to make our stay in Nishio the best it could possibly be. We really fell in love with the city and would love to return. In addition to eating amazing food, we learned about Nishio's history and even made friends with the locals.
It was overall a valuable experience for all 3 of us. We hope to come back, maybe with some family or friends next time!
