Conant International Preschool

At our preschool, English is the main language, while Japanese remains important. We emphasize both language and physical well-being, with food education at the core. Children are introduced to the “real taste” of food through our school lunch program, which offers more than nutrition—it provides learning and life experience. So far, we have enjoyed dishes from over 30 countries together.

We believe the years up to age three are crucial for rich experiences. Whenever possible, children encounter ingredients in their natural state and explore new activities rather than repeat the same ones. Each month, we set a theme for deeper learning through observation and creativity. Art, emotional growth, and daily responsibilities—like helping with cleaning—are all part of this balance.

Our vision is to go beyond rural limitations, highlighting the unique opportunities such settings provide. We warmly welcome children from overseas, offering every child, regardless of background, the chance to learn and grow fully.

The preschool believes in nurturing each child’s individuality through trust, respect, and hands-on experiences in nature. Teachers encourage curiosity and creativity without unnecessary restrictions, allowing children to discover their own strengths while learning to cooperate and ask for help when needed. Drawing on both Japanese traditions and international educational practices, the school fosters a spirit of gratitude, cultural appreciation, and a strong moral foundation. Conant International Preschool is surrounded by an environment where nature becomes an extension of the classroom. Rice fields, parks, and local landmarks provide endless opportunities for outdoor play and discovery. Children plant and harvest crops, learn about local specialties such as mikan oranges in winter, and experience traditional events that bring the community together.
