I think this program is wonderful and very suitable for young children.
At this age, language is not their only means of communication. Through this experience, they can learn how to interact with other children even when they do not share the same language, and how to bravely step out of their comfort zone in an unfamiliar environment.
Before going to school on the first day, I was worried that my child might cry and refuse to enter at the school gate. I reminded her several times,
“Just like when we’re in Taiwan, Mommy will only walk you to the school gate. After that, you’ll go into the classroom by yourself, okay?”
However, when we arrived at school, she noticed the sandbox near the entrance and a group of children playing there. After watching them for a short while, she ran off to grab some toys.
Just as I was about to take out my camera to capture the moment, she ran back to me and said,
“Mom, you can go home now! I want to play here!”
Hearing that, I was both shocked and deeply moved.
In that moment, I truly realized that my baby had grown up.
Message to Preschool Teachers
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the teachers at Chuo Preschool and all the staff members—including the interpreter at the preschool—who supported us in so many ways, from the initial online meetings to Jolie’s very first day. From the preparation stage to the actual visit, you always responded to our many questions with such kindness and care.
We were also deeply moved by how thoroughly you checked in advance about Jolie’s interests, food preferences, and even what nickname she would like to be called. It truly showed us the teachers' exceptional level of preparation and thoughtfulness.
Furthermore, we are incredibly grateful for the photos you shared with us every day, which allowed us to see how Jolie was doing at the preschool. On her first day, Jolie seemed a bit anxious and shy in the new environment, but seeing her gradually become so absorbed in play that she would say "I don't want to go home yet" by the end of the day filled our hearts with joy. We know she was able to have such a wonderful time only because the teachers created such a warm and secure environment for her.
Message to Local People
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the accommodation staff for all the local support they provided during our stay. The local shuttle service (安全タクシー) was also exceptionally kind and helpful. During our email exchanges to arrange transportation, they carefully double-checked our flight schedule and calculated the pick-up time based on the actual arrival and departure times, which truly made us feel their warmth and attentiveness.
Because we traveled to Hiroshima via Okinawa on our inbound journey, the taxi driver initially thought we were flying back to Okinawa when we made the return booking. He kindly followed up with us again, asking, “Are you sure there is a flight to Okinawa at this time?” This thoughtful confirmation left a strong impression on us and clearly showed how much care and responsibility he took in making sure everything was correct.
We are deeply thankful for the hospitality and kindness we received from both the accommodation staff and the local community.

Features of the Preschool
Chuo Preschool integrates Buddhist values such as kindness, resilience, and curiosity into a modern, balanced curriculum. The educational approach covers intellectual, moral, physical, and nutritional development, nurturing children in an environment rich in tradition.
Children have the unique opportunity to experience kendo, a traditional Japanese martial art that builds focus, respect, and strength. Older students practice with bamboo swords while wearing authentic uniforms, and younger children participate by watching and cheering in the energetic atmosphere.
The preschool incorporates rich outdoor activities and local community events into daily life. Children engage in seasonal nature explorations like bamboo shoot digging in the mountains and playing by the Seto Inland Sea, while also connecting with locals through community festivals and sports days.
