Our daughter loved this program so much she begged us to let her 'move to Toyama.' This was a beautiful preschool in spectacular nature. The staff was super kind to us. Our child was comfortable right away! This will be in our best memories always.

We appreciate very much for the opportunity for participating preschool exchange program in Japan, with Kamidaki preschool. Personally, I enjoy a lot with the stay at Kamidaki, which allow me to experience Japan culture through a living. Secondly, I appreciate the outdoor exploration that Athena able to have during the one week program such as sand play, water play, playground, cycling etc. I truly love the slow pace and the peacefulness at the place where we stay.

We really enjoyed this preschool exchange experience. We chose this programme because our son has been learning Japanese, and we wanted him to see how the language is used in everyday life. It was wonderful to see him confidently use a little Japanese and compare the differences between his school in Singapore and the preschool in Japan.
The teachers were kind and patient, making both our son and daughter feel welcomed and comfortable. Even our two-year-old, who understood no Japanese at the start, picked up a few words after just one week!
Both children had a great time and have already asked if they can come back again.

We had a wonderful second experience with Japan Preschool Exchange (we participated last year in Assabu as well). The accommodation was very close to the preschool and a train station to get into the city. Our two children enjoyed being able to experience nature and engage in the Montessori-style learning. They really enjoyed in particular getting to stick their toes in water on hot days!

Thank you so much for taking care of Hiro and Nana. Their Japanese grew tremendously and really enjoyed making new friends. It was also very unique that Nana and Hiro were actually able to play together sometime since they won't get that chance in the US. Thank you again!

Features of the Preschool
Kamidaki Preschool implements Montessori education combined with a unique vertical grouping system. This approach blends children of different ages, allowing younger children to admire older peers while older ones naturally develop empathy and a caring attitude.
The preschool provides dynamic outdoor experiences across all seasons, allowing children to fully immerse themselves in large-scale adventures. Children enjoy activities such as collecting insects and mountain climbing in the summer, alongside snow play and sledding in the winter.
The facility demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusive meals by skillfully adapting school meals using ingredients like soy milk and rice flour. This ensures that all children, regardless of allergies, can share and enjoy the exact same delicious food together.
A Day of the Children
No strict timetables. We value letting children pursue their own interests at their own pace over rigid group activities.
Once everyone arrives in the morning, children play together freely across all age groups.
A buffet-style lunch where children serve themselves just the amount they want to eat.
Lots of outdoor play, like playing in the sand and bug hunting, to naturally foster their autonomy.
Taking walks around the neighborhood to greet and interact with the local community.

Tateyama Yoshimine Onsen / Tateyama Green Park Yoshimine
Located in Tateyama Town, Toyama Prefecture, "Tateyama Green Park Yoshimine" is a lush, natural theme park. Here, you can fully enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, BBQs, and park golf, all while relaxing in our proud natural hot spring, famous for its skin-beautifying waters sourced directly from the spring.
Akarie
Akarie is a multipurpose facility dedicated to "disaster prevention" and "childcare support." It features two outdoor plazas designed for different age groups and large playground equipment, alongside a fun indoor play area within the Childcare Support Center. Located just a 13-minute drive from Kamidaki preschool, it is highly recommended as a wonderful play spot for all children, including those who do not currently attend the preschool.
Toyama Family Park
A popular spot where you can interact with animals in a lush natural setting. In an area recreating a traditional Japanese satoyama (rural woodland), you can observe local wildlife like raccoon dogs and Japanese macaques, alongside popular animals such as giraffes, lions, and adorable red pandas.
Toyama Science Museum
Children's eyes will light up at the expansive starry sky in the planetarium and the exciting science experiments. With well-equipped areas designed specifically for preschoolers, parents and children can relax and enjoy a wonderful time learning together.

Reached in 2–3 hours by Shinkansen from Tokyo or Osaka, Toyama City connects daily life with rich nature and fresh local food, including Toyama Bay's famous seafood. Our accommodation is perfectly located near farmers' markets and restaurants. It is an ideal setting where kids can play freely in nature and families can enjoy a truly healthy stay.
